The room temperature gas sensing technology based on WO3/Si composite structures

Title of Invention

The room temperature gas sensing technology based on WO3/Si composite structures

Technology

Novel hydrothermal synthesis process is presented to fabricate the composite WO3 nanoparticles on Si nanostructure and followed by oxygen plasma treatment, which can demonstrate great response to sensing NO2 gas at room temperature.

Benefits

  1. The special hydrothermal method is presented to solve the self-aggregation issue of WO3.
  2. High concentrations of oxygen vacancy can be created on material surfaces through oxygen plasma treatment, resulting in sensing response at room temperature.
  3. Compared with sputter technology, the synthetic process is low cost and enables to uniformly control the morphologies.

Possible Applications/ Industry Categories

  1. Gas-sensing related requirement and applications.
  2. Portable detector for utilization.
  3. Detection of poisonous gas in factories and laboratories.
