A highly sensitivitve glucose detection based on silver-carbon core-shell nanodots

Technology

 

The fabrication technique of simple and low-cost silver/carbon core-shell nanodots is presented to provide the high-sensitive glucose detection through the color change distinguished by nake eyes. The sensing can be operated at room temperature without the need of spectroscopic instrument, and allows the wide detection range of glusoe concentrations from 0.3 mM to 10 mM, which provides the rapid, convenient and high-precision detection of glucose.

  1. Reduce the burden from medical resource based on the instant and convenient detection method.
  2. Using carbon nanodots as a stabilizer for silver shells improves the sensitivity and long-term operation.
  3. Aboundant sources of raw materials for synthesis, such as tea slag, coffee grounds, carbohydrate, therefore the wasted resources can be recycled to achieve the goal of circular economy.

This invention presents a novel silver-carbon core-shell nanostructures in solutions that enables to provide a rapid and high-precision glucose detection observed by nake eyes. This can be benefit many applications such as blood sugar test and glucose sensing for diabetes monitoring.
