High Sensitivity Microwave Sensors Using Intermodulation Multiplication and Amplitude-Based Demodulation Techniques

Title of Invention

High Sensitivity Microwave Sensors Using Intermodulation Multiplication and Amplitude-Based Demodulation Techniques

Technology

The microwave technique is proposed to measure the vital sign. Utilizing the penetration of microwaves to overcome the past contact sensing method and and apply to detect the pulse signals which is weak of the human body. In addition,by system circuit design, the use of amplitude variation of the signal and the application of the intermodulation effect to achieve a more sensitive measurement. Amplify the weak physiological signals to identify more details in the waveform. Therefore, in addition to the traditional pulse rate measurement, the measurement of the local pulse wave velocity can be performed by a more accurate pulse signal.

Benefits

The proposed methods can achieve the high sensitive and the noninvasive measurement. The method can enchance the signal by amplitude variation and the intermodulation effect which is provided form the system. The sensor has the advantages of penetration sensing capability, and the detail of the pulse waveform for local pulse wave velocity measurement which is in high speed.

Possible Applications/ Industry Categories

The technology has the potential for small spatial changes and vital signs detection
